Welcome to Gray Kettle Farm: the Blog!
Nick & Amy (Mom & Dad) pitched the idea of a family farm to their kids around Fall of 2020. They were thinking seriously about looking for a plot of land that would be big enough to build three houses on it - a place where we could all live, raise some kids, try not to kill a garden, take turns mudding in a 4-wheeler, and maybe start a business or two.
After 2 two and a half seconds of thinking about the idea, everybody was on board and now here we are! It's not an idea anymore, it's a big ol' rolling ball of Mom & Dad's money because they are financing the giant chunk of land (insert HUGE thank you from all the kids for wanting to be a part of our lives and including us in this once in a lifetime opportunity).
But really, we're all so excited for this chapter. We're slowly getting our houses ready to sell, finding new house plans to build (arguably the girls' favorite job, what a burden, all the shiplap, all the Magnolia Home, all the rustic - we're really suffering) and actively working on several business ideas.
We decided to start a blog so we could A) document the process for ourselves and B) eventually share our experiences with you!
